Performance Analysis of Edge Computing and Cloud Computing in IoT Applications
Abstract
The rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has increased the need for efficient data processing architectures. This paper compares the performance of edge computing and traditional cloud computing in IoT-based applications. Parameters such as latency, bandwidth utilization, response time, and energy efficiency are analyzed through simulation and real-world scenarios. Findings reveal that edge computing significantly reduces latency and network congestion for time-sensitive applications, while cloud computing offers superior scalability and storage capabilities. The paper concludes that a hybrid edge-cloud architecture provides an effective solution for next-generation smart systems.
